Abstract: To address the issues of high treatment costs and low efficiency in industrial wastewater treatment using coal-based powdered activated carbon (PAC) adsorption processes, which arise from inappropriate selection of coal-based PAC types, this study investigates the application effects of coal-based PACs with different iodine values and ash contents in industrial wastewater treatment. By conducting bench-scale experiments simulating the PAC adsorption process for industrial wastewater, the adsorption performance of coal-based PACs with high/low iodine values and varying ash contents was comparatively analyzed for treating typical industrial park wastewater. Experimental results demonstrate that the iodine value and ash content of coal-based PACs are critical factors influencing their adsorption efficiency for different types of industrial wastewater. This research provides both theoretical foundation and practical references for selecting cost-effective,high-efficiency adsorption materials in wastewater treatment applications.
