Abstract: The output flow of oil and gas wells is accompanied by solid sand particles in the process of oil and gas exploitation due to the influence of geological factors and exploitation operations, resulting in sand production from oil and gas wells. The problem of sand production seriously affects the productivity of oil and gas wells, increases the cost of equipment maintenance, and brings extreme pressure on safety and environmental protection for the safe production of oil fields. This paper introduces the adverse effects of sand production from oil wells on downstream terminal facilities and equipment on an FPSO in the Bohai oilfield,as well as the preventive measures taken in the production process. The results could provide a reference for facilities facing the same problems.

Key words: sand production from oil and gas wells, terminal facility, adverse effect, preventive measures
