Abstract: Under the background of building a “world-class journal”,the existence and value of general sci-tech journal can not be ignored. In view of the lack of high-quality contributions,the decline of influence and the lack of policy support in many journals,the methods of topic selection and contribution solicitation in Journal of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering in recent years are summarized. Through the comparative analysis of the citation and download volume of the hot papers and the same kind of papers of the first-class journals,this paper probes into how the general sci-tech journals take the lead in the topic selection and contribution solicitation,so as to seek a better development path.
