Abstract: In 2019,the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the “Trial Measures for Social Benefit Evaluation and Assessment of Newspaper Publishing Units”,which is the first document issuedby the central government to quantitatively assess the social benefits of publishing units. For journal publishing units,understanding the policy signals and grasping the focus of the assessment is not only to deliver excellent answers to the social benefit assessment,but also to deepen reform,innovate publishing and achieve high-quality development of journals. As an editor of a university science and technology journal,the efforts made by this journal are summarized from the ideological management,topic planning,journal quality,new media publishing and editorial team building of the journal,to learn with colleagues.
