Explosion-proof Design of Firewall for Living Quarter on Offshore Central Platform

Abstract: The main hazardous substances in the processing of the offshore oil and gas field central platform are natural gas and condensate. Due to limited space on the platform,the layout of process equipment,electrical rooms,and living quarters is relatively compact. The living quarter is the place where platform operators live and work,and lifeboats and helidecks are also arranged on the living quarter. The importance of the living quarter is self-evident. Once oil and gas leaks on the platform,fire or explosion may occur when encountering an ignition source,which has a significant impact on personnel and platform safety. Through fire and explosion analysis,this paper calculates the impact of explosion overpressure on the living quarter,guiding the explosion-proof design of the firewall in the living quarter to ensure the safety of the living quarter.
