Abstract: Patents are one of the core outputs of university scientific and technological innovation activities,serving as a crucial means to solidify scientific and technological achievements. The quantity,types,and industrial application of patents directly reflect the R&D capabilities of universities. Based on higher education institutions in Tianjin,this study selects universities with top-ranking patent applications and a certain application base from public databases as research samples. A multi-faceted analysis is conducted from aspects such as application trends,types,legal status,and patent utilization. The current and existing issues of the scientific research capabilities of universities in Tianjin are summarized and concluded,and optimization recommendations are put forward.
