Abstract: Category management is a series of procurement management activities based on category standardization and clear category classification,guided by category procurement strategies. The procurement of offshore oil engineering projects is characterized by complexity,high risk,large investment and long cycle. Risks can be effectively reduced through category management,clarifying the procurement interface and achieving procurement value. The article takes the application of category management in offshore oil engineering enterprises as the starting point,analyzes the procurement value created by the application of category management,and discusses the methods and models of category management.
