Abstract: Building first-class journals is one of the important issues faced by current science and technology journals. The Journal of Chongqing Medical University,as a medical science and technology journal,mainly serves researchers from Chongqing Medical University （schools,departments and affiliated hospitals）. It often publishes teaching and research results,showing comprehensive and introverted characteristics,which leads to repetition of published content,single source of manuscripts,outflow of excellent manuscripts and lack of personality. Under the background of the top-level design for the construction of national first-class periodicals,the Journal of Chongqing Medical University has changed its original mode of running journals,actively solicited contributions,set up characteristic columns,and especially invited influential experts in the industry to act as guest editors to carry out accurate manuscript invitation. This has carried on the beneficial exploration and practice for the periodical to get out of the development predicament of lack of professional influence.
