Feasibility Analysis of Spud Can Modification of Jack-up Drilling Platform to Reduce Puncture Risk

Abstract: Jack-up drilling platform is an important equipment for offshore oil development. Puncture problem has always been a difficult problem for jack-up drilling platforms during pile insertion operations. At present,when the jack-up drilling platform is working,it is necessary to explore and analyze the target layer and predict the risk of pile insertion. Active puncture method can be adopted in strata with puncture risk to reduce the puncture risk of pile insertion operation. However,the active puncture method has a long operation cycle,and the drilling has problems such as backfilling and collapse. Taking EP 20-5 as an example,this paper puts forward the method of reducing the puncture risk by spud can modification,and compares and analyzes the puncture risk coefficient of HL9 drilling platform before and after spud can modification. The prediction results show that the modified spud can can effectively reduce the puncture risk,and the spud can modification is feasible in the method of reducing the puncture risk.
