Identification and prevention strategies of journal editors for bad citation behavior of references

Abstract: References are an important part of scientific research papers. The existing bad citation behavior seriously affects the seriousness and authority of academic journals,which not only misleads readers,but also promotes academic bias and other bad atmospheres,and even causes academic disputes. Based on the actual work of journal editors,this paper describes the classification and specific forms of bad citation behavior,analyzes its causes and effects,and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to prevent bad citation behavior.
