Abstract: In the new media era, effectively narrating the stories of scientists and disseminating their spirit are pivotal to constructing the image of a technological powerhouse and advancing the pursuit of a strong sci-tech nation. Based on semantic prosody, this study analyzes and compares the emotional connotations embedded in AI-generated content (AIGC) and scientist-related tweets on social media platforms. Furthermore, employing the “Encoding-Decoding” theory from communication studies,it explores the actual dissemination effects of such content among netizens. Seven semantic tendencies in discourses about the scientist spirit on Twitter and three decoding patterns in user comments are identified. Results indicate that AIGC exhibits unique advantages in the international communication of the scientist spirit, enabling efficient content generation and circumventing controversial topics. However, the lack of depth and diversity in emotional expression and topic selection necessitate human intervention for refinement.
