Development and performance verification of hydraulically controlled intelligent gas injection valve for offshore CCUS applications

Abstract: Under China’s “Dual Carbon” strategic goals,offshore carbon capture,utilization,and storage (CCUS) technology has become a critical pathway for achieving deep carbon emission reductions. To promote large-scale and clustered development of this technology,China has launched the layout of 10-million-ton-scale offshore CCUS projects during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period. However,traditional offshore blanket gas injection technology suffers from low injection efficiency and insufficient control precision,severely limiting the large-scale deployment of CCUS projects. To address this challenge,this study developed a hydraulically controlled intelligent gas injection valve with an 8-gear precision control function through material selection,structural design,finite element simulation,and laboratory testing. Ground tests demonstrate that the control valve exhibits excellent reliability under simulated extreme CCUS well conditions (150 °C,70 MPa). This achievement provides key technical support for the safe and efficient operation of 10-million-ton-scale offshore CCUS projects.
